I recently had the opportunity to be a panelist on a mindset-focused webinar with Chris Heller, CEO of Movoto. One of the key takeaways I shared came from a simple but powerful question an agent asked me:
“Why does everything feel harder lately, even though I’m using the same tools and leads?”
That question sparked this video and a deeper conversation around how perspective and motivation are directly connected—especially in a shifting market.
I’ve had enough one-on-one conversations with agents to recognize the signs. A slowdown hits, and suddenly, doubt creeps in. They question the leads, the market, and themselves. I hear:
“These leads are garbage.”
“No one’s serious anymore.”
That’s when I know: it’s not the system—it’s the perspective that needs a reset.
Perspective changes everything. When frustration sets in, agents tend to zoom in too tightly on their own pipeline. Every “no” feels personal. Every lull feels like failure. As a leader, I help them zoom back out—looking at trends on the team, in the local market, and even nationally. Almost always, they’re not alone. And that shift—from isolation to context—immediately lifts the weight.
We’re not in 2020 anymore. Buyers and sellers are moving more slowly, asking more questions, and taking more time. That’s not a bad thing—it’s just different. What worked then won’t guarantee success now. The agents who are thriving in 2025 are the ones who’ve adjusted, stayed coachable, and focused on strategy over blame.

I remind my team: it’s not the source—it’s the strategy. If one agent is closing deals from the same lead source that another is struggling with, that’s not a system failure—it’s an opportunity to learn and grow. That’s empowering, because it means your success is in your hands.
When agents reconnect to the bigger picture and make intentional adjustments, confidence returns—and momentum follows. That’s leadership: offering support, bringing perspective, and helping people take control of their results without feeling alone.
